- Presentation: Django Lawnchair (Andy McKay) [40 min]
Django Lawnchair is a library to allow easier integration between Django and a client side datastore. It allows you to easily get a list of objects from a Django site and persist in them in the client. This is perfect for mobile webapps. This talk features Django, REST, client side databases, HTML 5, iPhone apps and PhoneGap. With that many cool buzz wordy things, how can you resist?
We're excited to have Andy visiting from Vancouver, BC.
He and his company also organized the recent DjangoSki conference at Whistler, so we also have an opportunity to hear how things went at the end of the meeting or over a beer or two afterwards. http://www.clearwind.ca/
- Lightning Talks or Socializing
a) Rob Lanphier's Lightning Talk [5-10 min]:
http://blog.robla.net/2010/jsonwidget-python/
From Rob: It's a schema-based form building tool that I've written in Python. My original target for the python version is curses/terminal window, but I'm also dabbling with the idea of building a Django-based version of this. After the meeting [last month], I had a brief (but very helpful) chat with Leo answering some of my initial questions. I probably won't get started on anything Django based until next month at the earliest, so by that meeting, I may be more prepared for a broader conversation anyway.
b) Let us know if you'd also like to give a lightning talk.
This is where you can share a cool thing
you're working on, or a Django trick you've learned.
Just a 5-10 minute talk or demo.
